Find Your Partner

The statistics are clear. People are more productive in pairs. This is true in almost every realm of life. Success is often accomplished when people are emotionally and physically supportive of one another. Working out and getting in shape is no different. Before you even purchase your gym membership or set your first goal, find a friend or loved one that wants to be your partner in crime.


Be Realistic

We all have high expectations. At the same time, we are all human. Setting unrealistic goals is a recipe for failure. If you are not a morning person, it might not be a great idea to commit to getting out of bed at 4am to workout before work. It will be tough for you to make it down to the gym. The point is, know yourself. Do not try to be someone you are not. If you are flexible, be flexible. If you are rigid, be rigid. Either way, be true to yourself and find success. Trying to be someone you are not could cause your resolution to fade away.

Once again, you are an expert on YOU. Therefore, you know what is a true motivator for you, and what is something that could make it easier for you to fail. Maybe you are getting married and want to look great in your dress. Maybe you are on the verge of diabetes and want to avoid the insulin needles. Maybe you want to be healthier for your family. Whatever your motivation is that will keep you going through the year, find it and harness it. Every time you want to give up and throw in the towel, look to your motivation and remember there is a reason you are on this journey.


Do NOT Give Up!

There will be days that you will want to stay in bed and eat cake. There will be workouts that leave you gasping for air. No matter how fit you are, those days will always be there. I still have them. Do not give in and never give up. Believe in yourself and your goals, and you will be healthy in 2018 and for the rest of your life.
